Context#

rkb first printed TOON whenever stdout was not a terminal, so a person piping it into less or a file got TOON.

Decision#

The default is human text, also when piped; --toon (the same as --format toon) gives TOON, and --format json is for scripts. The skill, the command prompts and the session-start line tell agents to pass --toon on every call; the agent tools always return TOON.

Why#

The user wanted the CLI to suit people by default and agents to ask for TOON explicitly.
